Best pizza?

I was having a discussion about Blondies the other day and the question arose about whether or not they still existed. Glad to see they are still out there.

Yes, categories!

Delivery: Mr. Pizza Man (24/7, 365 days/year..Mr. Pizza Man is what made this country great!).

Neighborhood Pizza Joint: Jakes, Cupertino, Front Room, Frisco (good call, ED)
Not a fan of North Beach Pizza, but I wouldn't kick it out of my fridge. I like it better cold.

Best Pizza and a Hit-Man: Golden Boy Pizza, Green St. North Beach, Frisco. Don't forget to tip.

I do like their garlic bread, but that's off topic...

Neighborhood: In Santa Cruz, Mangiamo Pizza & Wine Bar makes a good pizza. I've been there twice both times they had a three piece jazz band crammed in the front doing Django stuff. It was really awesome! (again, of topic)

Hey, whatever makes the "pizza experience" work. Jazz is good.

That's my objection to the poorly named "Extreme Pizza". Would a little garlic kill them?

Hey! I forgot! Indian pizza! Yummy indian pizza from Zante's! What's on an indian pizza, you ask?

"Topped with Spinach, Egg Plant, Cauliflower, Ginger, Garlic, Green Onions, Cilantro, Lamb, Tandoori Chicken & Prawns"

Heresy to some, tasty, tasty heresy to others.

Best Neighborhood Pizza Joint:

2 - Pizza and Pipes (Cupertino, CA) (OK - The pizza is terrible but the pipes are fucking awesome!)

Drove by on 4th of July. It's now "Pizza Party". My guess is the pizza still sucks and according to my dad, the pipes were relocated to some theater in Oregon that has since shut down (my dad says it's probably become a pizza parlor now...)

Re: Euro-Pizza - I had pizza in Venice and it was fan-fucking-tastic. Quattro formagie with 4 locally made outstanding cheeses was a revelation. Pizza in Germany, well, you know what that's about from my previous post.

Re: Extreme Pizza - I had independent confirmation today that the Extreme near me in SOMA really sucks and that the one on Fillmore is very good.

...we haven't discussed yoshoku pizza here. On the Bridge in S.F.s Kinukiniya mall is a good yoshoku joint, but I'm not sure if they still do pizza. I used to eat there a lot when I did more Fillmore shows. It's a very surreal place, the likes would make a good setting for a sci-fi story jumping off point.

What's yoshoku? Behold, my Doomly brothers, behold:

I think I found this "Pizzas of the world" link on Neatorama...Check out the Hawaiian pizza from Sweden!

When you need pizza in Morton's Grove, IL, the best place to eat is the Pequod. Thick and heavy on the carmelized cheese at the edges. You don't have to even have deep discussion about Ishmail, either. I know it's the best place, because I didn't eat at any other pizza joints in the burg.

Do keep hold of brand new baseball caps, though.

I'm in the Chicago area for a couple of days, working with three candidates for our certified training agent program. Left a message on Facebook for my old high school and college buddies that I'd be in town and that I thought it might be fun to have a mini-reunion at one of the better pizza establishments so that I could fill my craving for good pizza and have the chance to see some people I haven't seen in around 25 years or so. They couldn't all agree on a time and a place so wound up splitting it into two nights. Just completed night one of the two-night Chicago pizza extravaganza: Edwardo's. Tomorrow night is Lou Malnati's. And on Sunday, I'll explode. Big Grin

New favorite pizza, the blandly named "Tony's Pizza" in North Beach, Barbary Coast, Frisco! It seems that Tony has won himself some awards for his pizza. In Italy. In Napoli (that means The Mafia let him live! His pizza was that good!). His signature pizza uses all imported Italian ingredients, right down to the sea-salt, identical to what he used when he won. The Grrl described the Pizza Margherita like "taking a bite of Summer". I normally detest the Margherita pizza, but this one has complexity of taste from a small amount of ingredients.

The best pizza is the closest pizza. I happen to have two Giordano's pizzas defrosting in the fridge right now. So,ipso facto, those would be the best pizzas. Plus, Giordano's happen to not be too bad.

A gourmet-ish pizza joint right next to the Whole Foods on Washington street in Petaluma. I can't remember the name. I wasn't paying that much attention. I thought I'd be clever and use the Google street view function, but right when the car passes in front of the restaurant, there's a building in the way. I did some odd address searches and came up with Pizzacato, which may indeed be the place, but I'm not sure.

That's a rocking Whole Foods, btw. We happened to go there twice in two weeks and there was a ton of stuff going on. Shelter kittens, reggae DJs, lots of awesome food samples and a stupid scented water sample.
