The other band I was almost interested in was Kung Fu Vampire. I was toying with the idea of running a piece on our e-zine, partly for the crossover, partly just to get backstage and nosh on the snacks with the band. Truth be told, after RZA, well, that's a hard act to top in terms of crossover.

If I haven't already raved about them, NA is a two piece (drums and bass) band. They are all instrumental. The bass player is awesome. He was on tour with Ricki Lee Jones last year.

You can see a lot of their live clips on YouTube here:

You can listen to their take on Brubeck's Blue Rondo on their MySpace page here:

I've been emailing the drummer trying to get them to come back to Santa Cruz (so I don't have to drive). I'm changing my plan and going to go to the Hemlock on Sat. (I'm helping a friend move up to the city that day). If I go early, I'll talk to the guys in person. Otherwise, I'll send them an email.

They said I won a t-shirt. I wish I remembered what I wrote. Did they just give t-shirts to everyone who wrote in? That would be cool. The "pirate" faction would have to come up with competing free t-shirts...

Well, it ain't got here yet. Maybe they don't have XL or XXL shirts. Ninjas are usually more compact.

Well, that's awesome for me. Too bad it didn't fit your yeti-ness. You'll still have to check out the band if you haven't already...

I broke a foil so I'll be planning a jaunt up your way soon. I'll let you know when.

..did you even go to the show or do you just watch it on the web? you're the only free bachelor in DOOM now. the rest of us are married or living in sin (which is just like being married without the tax break). you should get out more.
