MotoTrip 2008: NorCal/SoOr
#1
Me and Andre the Giant went north to see a friend git hitched. Up 101 cutting over at 199 (Crescent City towards Grant's Pass) avoided Grant's Pass by cutting through Applegate River Valley to Jacksonville (good coffee!) and then to Medford and Ashland. Took two days to get there, did the wedding thing, and then came back via Hwy 5 to Redding and cutting over to the coast via Hwy 299, with stops in Whiskeytown (there is no whiskeytown) and Weaverville (Joss House!). Great road despite smoke from fires. Overnighted in Eureka, headed south on Monday. Bike had other ideas, but after seeing mechanic, bike decided to head south. Phew. I'm guessing at 1200 to 1400 miles round trip.

In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I miss Weaverville and the Joss House.
For two summers my mother sent me to a pseudo camp up there. It was run by a teacher friend of hers and was mostly populated by bad boys. Looking back I'm wondering if that was why I was sent? But those other boys were really bad. I was just uppity. It was really close to Weaverville, outside of the no longer existing Douglas City. I need to make the trip back up there some day. It was also where I saw Star Wars for the first time. We went down to Redding to a mall and saw it there sans line when lines were still huge around the country.

Ah memories.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
