I have to rethink this leaving the country when I want a vacation. It turns out there some pretty good things to see here in the USA. Weird, I know.
As usual, the Queen and I did too much in not enough time. And came away with a trillion photographs and an hour of my video camera filming the inside of my camera bag. But that's just par for the course.
We hit Milwaukee for a photowalk. We were in Mekuon, WI for a birthday. We toured the exterior of Wrigley and Soldier Fields for whatever reason. We went to the top of Big John. We can call the John Hancock Tower Big John because we've been to the top and heard the David Schwimmer audio tour. We saw American Gothic and Nighthawks. We ate Ed Debevik's because they are a vanishing breed. We went to another Birthday party for the same girl. The Queen's parents were in the same room for the first time in twenty years. Not akward at all.
Things I Learned:
Stay on the Toll road. It's worth it.
Racine is not the center of all you want to do.
You can take photos on a crappy rainy day. Once you stop the photowalk, the sun will come out immediately.
Milwaukee actually has things to see.
Stay away from the Mosquitos in the bushes.
Stay on the Toll road. It's what Stephen King would do.
Don't leave your brand new Cubs hat at Pequods no matter how tasty the carmelized cheese.
Giordano's Pizza rocks. Even on the plane in coach.
Always check your tickets. You might not be on the same flight as the Queen.
It's Bacteria that makes the river Green in Chicago. Probably makes it brown, too.
They reversed the river in Chicago to take their trash to St. Louis.
Be careful of feminist architect boat guides.
Very Expensive Cameras and their lenses do not bounce.
Very Expensive replacement camera lenses are even more expensive at the Strip Mall.
Don't take drugs and walk under the silver bean. It's hard enough straight.
