I knew the Saratoga connection. The letter is from France where she lived at the time of the correspondence.

In the immortal words of Shakespeare, "Fuck"

Or maybe Michael Corleone, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in"

I was done with the house. I was going to clear things out tomorrow and let the liquidators do their thing. Naturally, I get an email tonight from San Jose Fucking State University, who I contacted back in January about the Steinbeck Collection. They'd like some or all of it according to the email. Meanwhile, I have a touchy liquidator who I had to arm twist to get back in the game and now I get to see how she feels about me giving the collection to SJ-F-SU

Good thing I have surgery on Tuesday so I can focus all my attention on this.

Take the money. SJSU ain’t got none.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Another headache first.

If you don't know, when you set up a trust, every asset you have must go into the trust. One trust to rule them all and in the darkness bind them. Easy.

When my father passed and the new trust was to be written, for whatever reason, my mother neglected to do that. All her cash accounts all go to separate beneficiaries. She did not make the trust beneficiary. Now, each of my sisters and I have to fill out separate paperwork to get the money. And this cash wasn't to go to us, it was to got the grandkids. We will each get checks. The checks will be cashed and the money sent to me. I will then have to send the money to the kids. Too many unnecessary steps

Ironic that the one without kids has to handle the kiddie checks. Hope it goes smoothly.

There are three properties in the estate all of differing value. Saratoga is the highest. Santa Clara the lowest. Cambridge in between. My plan was for me to keep Santa Clara for myself instead of taking cash. We would get an appraiser to tell us the price of SC. We would sell the other two properties. The total would be divided among the three of us, with my share being partially cash and mostly property. The sisters agreed. We are all getting the same amount of money just in different forms. Not a problem.

Unless you are the antarctic sister who vastly over estimates how much things are worth. She is currently fighting with Cambridge realtors over the value of that property. The realtors showed us a bunch of properties in the area and based on the condition of Cambridge, it should be worth X. My sister heard a different valuation she found and thinks the price should be X +$500K. Yeah, no. But she knows best and hates those realtors.

Now she's mad at the appraisal for Santa Clara. Thinks it is unfair. And has it in her head that I will be getting the property and my sisters will still have to pay me cash. No one is paying me. We are dividing up the estate. Meanwhile, Anarctic sister is fighting with long suffering sister because long suffering sister isn't getting with Antarctic sister's plan.

Good times.

Today is the public estate sale at Lynch castle. It starts at 10. According to the liquidator, the house will be empty by next week. This means I'm rolling over into the selling phase. Inspections will start next week to uncover any unseen problems. We'll bring in some cleaners to get the really bad dirt off the walls.

I am so impressed on how efficiently you got to this point. I always thought it would take years for you to sort that house. It’s a lovely day for an estate sale. Hope it’s a huge success and you get all the $$$!
