I calculated for a 2 hour ride from svale. Took me nearly 3. Feckin East bay traffuck.
It’s Ziggy, Stephan, Damien, Ky-Mani & Julian. Got a taste of Damien & Stephan at CR this year and it was fiyah.

I beleive that. The east bay corridors are fuqqed. It took me less than an hour and a half to get back to svale. I can only conclude that my feckn liephone chose to take me through the most bumper-2-bumper traffic it could find. I swear I took like a third of the turns to get back here.
But it was worth it. Irie show.
The venue is completely different from what I remember. Rm started doing it again about 8 years ago. I don't know how long we were away. I just remember working a few shows out there - a KMEL Jam where shots were fired and came close to an MCI - that must've been in the early 90s? I dunno.
We were BLS only and a small crew (like a dozen?) I was paired with my friend Saira, who I joined at the Sports Page after Santana. She's like the #1 there. Sunny, the lead, was head2toe in responder gear (he's an instructor) nice guy. Basically let us hang out. When Saira introduced me to some of the nooBs, she said that I was 'art'. I feel so seen. She may be my next padawan. She cut out early because she's in firefighter training and has to get up in ... 3 hours for class. Our only call together was way out at the front gate (quite a walk from rm) and it was hot flashes basically. As soon as she left, I had an older woman who drank something for a stranger and felt sick. Almost got her to the tent then felt that tremble. I wasn't gloved because she agreed so quickly to coming back to rm. A security guy was on her left and I almost told her to 'turn left and puke' but he wasn't rm and didn't desrve that - he was helping me without being asked - so I quickly manuvered her to a garbage barrel and the flood gates opened. After that, she regained her composition after resting with us a bit, then left on her own accord. Then I had a bunch of ghost calls.
The show is Bob Marley's greatest hits with the five brothers taking turns with each verse or chorus. A lot of sing-a-longs. Bass coulda been deeper but twas nuf. An irie show. I don't think Damien dropped Jamrock. First time I've seen him where he didn't drop that but it may have been when I was preoccupied with the puker.
Most of the night I spent on stage left in the pit with a half dozen giant cops. They were taking videos (strictly forbidden by venue policy). I was covertly texting audial files to mi bredren & sistren & dawta just as a 'wish you were here'. Eventually Saira got one of the cops to airdrop her one of their vids. I had an amazing photo opportunity with a line of blue all taking vids on the cells, but what would I even do with such a photo?
It was a rough morning with mutiple computer fails, a nice visit with my mom, then traffic for several hours. But the show made it all good. Glad I went.
So…
Ummm…
Anything I miss on TV last night?

Nope. Same ol, same ol.
Best line in response to the night "Kamala must be a marxist the way she publicly owned that old man"
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Stephen & Damien delivered. Best show so far of 2024. They had an insane flautist who took reggae into somethwere so fresh. And a heavy metal guitarist who totally switched the tone of the show for his solo, and Damien’s son YG she absolutely killed it. The grandson of Bob has an insanely fresh take on roots & dancehall
In retrospect, this Cali Roots show was more fiyah. Last night was great, Bob Marley's greatest hits and I do so love Bob. But Stephen, Damien & YG totally slayed. That remains the best reggae of 2024.
