Why do they have to take good old films and make crappy new versions? Why can't they take crappy old films and try to make good new versions?
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

You can't screw up the natural order of things. Imagine, taking crappy films and make better versions.

Or if you really want to get crazy, make good films the first time all the time.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

It all makes sense now. Keeanu plays an emotionless wooden alien. He was perfect. At least I think he was playing.

That's what I thought, too. There's only a handful of actors that can carry that off: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Segal, Nicolas Cage. I think Keanu was the right choice...

Well it was raining and JCVD wasn't in the theaters, so I ended up here.

Keeanu's acting was as expected. I miss the saucers. CGI Gort is pretty similar to the old Gort. The story diverges a lot from the original. The McDonald's scene is especially hard to swallow. But there are references to the original, like the formula on the blackboard. "Klaatu barada nikto" might have been said, but it was really quiet and I think I missed it. Pairing Keeanu with John Cleese...I never would have imagined that. The power of the destructive CGI swarm is a bit gratuitous at times, yet it conveniently has a difficult time with Keeanu's suit. The very end scene felt like a nod to Cloverfield, and in the end there are a lot of unresolved questions.

It's hard to connect with the characters and the action. It was mostly a curiosity to see how they altered the original. My vote: Meh.
