Department meeting today, so free lunch and maybe free coffee. I'd like to slip over to the lab to cut some paper but might not be able to. Finally got the chunk of mold material out from between my teeth. (Hopefully mold material and not part of the temp crown)

I thought you were bringing in some pros to build the sauna?
My condolences about your friend.

Yeah but it’s a 2 person job, so I’ll back them up. Today is an unknown person Stacy found on the web. Tomorrow is our old neighbor. But it just started raining again dammit.
Free lunch & coffee? Living large bro!
Got a call from an old friend, the widow of the guy who got me started with Rock Med. Dov & I both studied under him.

Rain stopped.
Sun is shining.
The contractor claims that he's built these saunas before.
Things are looking good.

Huzzah! We just had a hail storm roll through. Now the sun fights the clouds.

Didn't get any coffee. But the sandwich was from Mendocino Farms and tasty. Plus I went through the line at the end, so I got two molasses cookies

Quote:The clouds prepare for battle
In the dark and brooding silence
Bruised and sullen storm clouds
Have the light of day obscured
Looming low and ominous
In twilight premature
Thunder heads are rumbling
In a distant overture
All at once, the clouds are parted
Light streams down in bright unbroken beams
Follow men's eyes as they look to the skies
The shifting shafts of shining weave the fabric of their dreams
The third track on Rush’s 1980 album Permanent Waves. Written by drummer Neil Peart, “Jacob’s Ladder” is a dramatization of a stormy day before the sun breaks through and shines its rays of light onto Earth, though it has been interpreted to be about many other things, some with religious or philosophical meanings.
The song is over 7 minutes long, yet contains very few lyrics, being mostly an instrumental all the way through.

Rush was the second concert I ever saw.
The sauna is looking sauna-like. I had to bail because I’m dealing with some food poisoning now, I think. Felt crappy yesterday, a headache that wouldn’t stop, then last night I had brutal heartburn and chills. I was feeling better this morning but in the middle of sauna raising, I got really nauseous and had to puke. Then I crashed for a few hours then took Yuki to the beach. Now I’m back in bed. Still feeling off.

Too odd. I'm currently reading Geddy Lee's autobiography.

It is odd. I’m achy, stomach is cranky, and my tinnitus is at 11. I guess my tinnitus has become my early warning system. Maybe it’s some mutant flu or something. No temp, no sore throat or stuffy nose, just feel crappy.
Just in time for my weekend.

I’ve heard that there is a norovirus going around. Alex Massialas got laid out. Could have been food poisoning, though.

Well, whatever is was, it’s mostly past now. The aches are replaced by post ache aches, queasiness reduced but I’m still eating gingerly, headache only noticeable when I cough, tinnitus down to 9.
Today I’m skipping Kung Fu to raise the sauna. Then I’m going to take a hot epsom bath and watch more ninjas.

Well crap. It flared up again. Had a brief moment feeling ok, then the heartburn, and chills. I crashed for several hours. Took a Covid test = neg. Must be some weird flu.

Managed to take a bath, which wasn’t as relieving as I hoped, and get down some instant oatmeal. Dehydrated from the runs. Basically slept all day with occasional moments of consciousness.
The sauna needs an electrician so it was wrapped up tight for the storm.
2024 has sucked so far. I was sick when I got back from Mexico and now I’m sick again and we’re only a month in…

Sorry, DM. I hope you recover quickly.
