I'm wondering if this film came out straight to Paramount+ back in the dark times because I don't think I heard a word about it. When it popped up one of those lists of movies to see on Netflix, I thought it was new. I was surprised it came out in 2021 and had been on Netflix for awhile.
It's the apocalypse. Again. This time bugs have run amuck killing off the population. The remnants hideout in bunkers all across the world. Our hero Joel lives in one such bunker. He is in love with a girl in another bunker a seven day walk way. But no one walks on the surface, especially not Joel. He has a tremendous fear reaction to the bugs which means he is unable to protect himself. But he decides he has had enough and sets off to find the girl through the hellscape that is the surface. He has adventures. He meets other people
It was quite the fun romp driven by Joel's voice over narration and self deprecation. He knows he is not a fighter but does the best he can.
I enjoyed. There was some good giant monster action. There were some plot points I didn't see coming. There were others that I saw coming from a mile away. But it was a solid film and entertaining. Plus, there is a good dog named Dog.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
