Are you available for STS9 @ ucsc? Lynn (an old deadhead RMer friend) & I are running the shows for rock med. Friday & Saturday. The quarry holds less than 3k and both shows were only a third sold as of Sunday. Should be easy - a free show!
Tg - I reached out to Terra & Tara…

Looks like we have a team of 3 (my accomplice Rich is in) with Stacy and Alex joining us on Friday. Still sorting details. Hopefully it’ll be chill.

So much for 'chill'
Lynn, who has all the gear and the point person for tonight's show lives fairly close to the Glenwood fire that just broke out (

That was ok. The quarry crew love us and the STS9 fans are grateful for rock med. we were given minimal supplies but Lynn brought a lot of her own stash. Rich & another Gene (there can be only one!) we’re working crew. Alex & Stacy enjoyed the first set and then left. We had a few calls for set 2 - a drunk Molly who barfed on Lynn’s nice chair, a face plant with abrasions on his nose and forehead, and some snipe hunts. The drunk Molly was challenging because we didn’t have a wheelchair and he was front of house, stage left, so very visible - tough to walk him back to our pop up. It was a 4 man assist and I was extremely cautious to protect my neck.

Well alright. That was fun. Such a pleasant venue amongst the redwoods. UCSC is such a beautiful campus. Chummied up to the house manager Jose, production Karina, and trash talker Katy. Had a shroom syncopal gal and her shroom bf who freaked out and wasn’t able to help catch her when she fell…twice. But we talked her through (him too) and got their friends to take them home.
Had a late night snack of veggie pupusas from vendor truck. Yum.
The venue still has a lot of kinks to work out like the perimeter is very porous (unless you count all the poison oak that gate crashers must unknowingly traverse. There’s lots of logistical hiccups. But it’s getting better each time. I look forward to more shows here. It’s so convenient and they treat us so well.

Back in the house for round 2023 of STS9 @ the Quarry.
Big crew - Marcus & Alex from our back packing, Lynn in charge, Lisa an old RMer on the comeback after being mysteriously blackballed, Sparky, Gene 2 wearing the same shirt and sunglasses as me (feckin clones) a few other dudes and a gal I don’t know.
All good in the hood.

Lovely venue, lovely crowd. Lots of hippie dancing including a whirling topless chick with peace sign pastors on her nipples. Sage & sativa perfume the air. Stalwart redwoods reflect the led light show. An easy crowd to dance through if you ride the rhythm & bass. Festival fashion in full play. Joyful.
