Doom Dogs
First blood! Mine, that is. Aoife has been in heat since she got here. The pound told us don't worry. Aoife will clean all that right up. Not so much.

I remember once seeing an amusing book about dog training called Don't Shoot the Dog. It was written by a dolphin trainer, and their idea was that it's much harder to train dolphins than dogs, because they are a lot smarter, and so they put forward ideas for dog training based on dolphin training. The best part was that it has ideas for subtly altering people's behavior as well. Hazel was old at that point so I didn't buy it.

I'm remembering how much I've forgotten about how I made my dogs biddable. The one thing I do remember is tired dogs are quiet dogs. Just came back from their two mile walk.

So much fighting. Both dogs are possessive. If both come to you for attention, there will be a fight. Lily is more cranky around food and not wanting to share, as well.

What have we done?

They had their second two mile walk this morning. They are both good on the leash, Lily much better than Aoife. Aoife wants to look at everything but doesn't pull.

Took the girls back to the pound this morning to get them spayed. During the night Aoife destroyed the soft cones set on the counter for today's visit. I'm guessing it's Aoife. She's the destroyer.

In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

So much destruction. I'm going to need to buy sprinkler heads in bulk.

The girls had a rough day on Tuesday. It would have helped if we had been told we could purchase pain medications for them. The pound just gave us back the dogs. When I asked about medications, they just said 'No' It seemed like they could have used them. In the literature sent home with me, they did talk about pain meds and how I needed to buy them. Aoife pooped twice in the car on the way home. Lily was on the couch and The Queen moved Lily, which caused Lily to let out an unending howl. We kept both dogs in the bedroom with us to monitor them.

Wednesday, they still seemed out of it, but better. Aoife struggled the most. Lily was closer to her normal self. We didn't give them any exercise.

Thursday, they are back to being Trouble and Turmoil with their constant fights for space and dominance. I've already been handed two destroyed sprinkler heads and I'm going out to find more. They started a fight in the bedroom at about 2:30 that woke both of us. I figured they were fine enough to spend the rest of the night in the mud room.

Shiva is the name of Tara's cat for parallel reasons.

DM once gave me a nice statuette of Shiva Nataranja. Alas it was stolen when the custodians left me office door unlocked.

Karma will get that thief. Maybe the custodian too.

I forgot about that. When did I give it to you? After I went to India?

Back on topic - Yuki hates fireworks. It didn’t bother him when he was a pup but it does now. He cowers, pants and shakes. Poor pup. Stacy built him a cave of comfort in the closet but he left when we left. Now he’s in the bathroom. Tomorrow we’ll go to svale which will be mellower than cbrite. Our hood transforms into a feckin war zone on the fourth.

Do CBD treats help? Most pet shops in the Cruz have them now.

Thought about that. We used them for Jingles in his last months when he was declining. They sorta worked - at least we felt better because we were giving him something.

Damn! That was a big one just now. Sounded like it went off in our front yard. I luv cbrite but it sucks on the fourth.

If they can do this with drones, why do we have fireworks anymore?

Hazel was really scared of fireworks. It was hard until she went deaf. When we lived in the townhouse, one of us would sit with her in the closet by the garage because it was mostly underground. After we moved, we used to get a tranquilizer from the vet. This year seems really mellow so far.

DM - yes, you brought me Shiva from India.

Going deaf has been the best thing for Maeve and the fireworks and the local gunfire. When lived in Montecito Heights, fireworks season started in June and went all the way through late August. The weekends were the worst. Don't get me started on 4th of July week. Oh, boy. So many booms.

I don't know how the Trouble and Turmoil will do with loud bangs, but we don't get them here at the Lair. I'll know more when they have a shooting day at the neighbor's property.
