Wednesday (2022)

Finished. I enjoyed it. Maybe not classic, but enjoyable. (I'm not as critical as Greg.) And bad lighting in the photo above - none of them look good.

I don't think they are meant to look good. They should look eeeeeeviiiiilllll.

No one is a critical as Greg. But he secretly loves all movies and TV - it's a reaction formation.

The rat was the best.

I did like that Thing started off as this secret weapon of Wednesday's and then suddenly everyone knew about Thing and interacted with Thing on the show.

I have grugingly accepted Thing out of the box due to its relationship with Enid.

I'm thinking I should pitch a fencing article to Den while it's hot. I could cite the great Gomez v Morticia sword fights in the original series, and wasn't there a Gomez v Fester in the movies? I could pull in fight choreo (the ace up my sleeve) and that Jenna's stunt double was Jenny Umblau, who is featured in Warrior. Luv her. It's a Gough/Millar so there's some crossover from Badlands... Of course, I'd need to find time to write that and I've been blocking pretty badly lately... I need to squeeze my brain (or whatev) a little more...

Don't know off-the-wall this comment was.  But I'll just add...

Victory should sell those...

Ep07 Ha! I'm still in the running for guessing who is the monster handler or who is the Gates girl. You don't reveal the actual monster in the penultimate episode, right? Fester was the best part of this episode. He was loopy in the way the Adams are supposed to be loopy.

But we are racing to the denouement.

All done. I knew who did it. Kind of weird how all of a sudden the rest of the school rallied around Wednesday at the end when they didn't care about her before. Why lock the bad guy in that coffin, that can only be released by the blood of a descendant if you could have sent him to hell in the first place? And when did he become a magic wielding sorcerer?

In the end, it was fine. It told its story. But Wednesday never seemed like Wednesday only in bits and pieces. Something needed to be done to set her apart from being just a moody teenage goth chick.

Finished. Enjoyed it. Figured out Miss McGuffin early on when the mayor made inquiries. Principal Weems surprised me. Enid is from San Francisco. I'll take that. Fester was great, and got Wednesday's only genuine smile. The whole show pivoted on Wednesday's performance and Ms Ortega blew it out of the water. Guzman & Zeta-Jones were my only disappointment.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
