Wednesday (2022)

Somewhere there is a post where DM bemoans the fact that Thing has left the box. Totally concur. Can't find post. Also, Lurch from the first two films was in the first film I worked on. (He also ended up in MiB)

Teaser trailer. Emphasis on teaser.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times - taking Thing out of the box was the biggest mistake the franchise ever made.

See now, the thing with Thing in the box is that it remained a mystery what thing actually was. Now Thing is just a disembodied hand, but while still in the box, Thing could be all sorts of things. I imagined someThing more Lovecraftian, like a non-euclidean creature with innumerable tentacles ending in hands that lived within the walls and crawlspaces of the Addams Family manor.

That was more for the benefit of the other brothers.

Well, not the copy&pasted post. That was just for you.

Where's Thing?

Thing may have even been pansexual. Lovecraft never really went there (probably too busy being racist) but he should have…

New Trailer. According to Rob Zombie, Wednesday and The Munsters will be released on the same day.

That was a really good cover song playing underneath the credits. I thought Wednesday would approve of the Mayhem and Murder surrounding her. And I'm guessing that was Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. I guess I could check IMDB.....

**Update** No listing for Uncle Fester on IMDB.

I saw a news article that said it was Armisen. That could work...

The opening credits. Shocking, Danny Elfman did the score.

E1: It was ok. Wednesday goes to Hogwarts or the School for Good and Evil or some other magical school. Jenna who plays Wednesday is working for me but the rest of the Addams are not. Thing, well, I’ve discussed that issue before. Gomez and Morticia don’t quite work for me - I do like Zeta-Jones but she’s too full faced. Morticia need to be more gaunt. No one matches Carolyn Jones. And while Guzman captures Gomez’s girth, I’ve never really cared for his work.

There’s a fencing scene in the first ep with a thousand things wrong (when is fencing going to be depicted properly in cinema?) Nevertheless it’s an amusing scene if you can get past the inaccuracies. She also does some King Fu. Something for everyone.

I’ll note that the writers are Gough & Millar - same team that did Into the Badlands. I’ve interviewed them.

Ricci’s part is kinda funny. I want to see more of her. And Christie as the principal is giving me GoT flashbacks.

I did enjoy Paint it Black on the cello.

8 eps at 45 mins each. I’m in for more.

What DM said and more.
It seemed like the tone was off for the characters. There didn't seem to be any fun involved in what they were doing. Or even glee. They also need to bring back Sonnefeld to give it that great look.

I didn't care for much of the casting, except for Ricci and Jenna. Paint it Black was entertaining.

Will watch more. I hope the show gets its stride.

E2

Another nerdy Eugene in Wednesday? The beekeeper? Srsly?

Also weirding me out is that Wednesday’s roommate is named Enid (my mom’s name).

E2 was better tho - no Gomez or Morticia. Wednesday (Jenna) is working for me and the supporting female cast is cool. Still luv Ricci and it’s nice to see Christie in a role that doesn’t rely on the fact that she’s a towering giantess. All the dudes are lame.

I was amused to see Gough & Millar’s names under the psychiatrist’s name on the building window - they’re realtors.
