Brain circus insomnia
I'm tired of starting the day at 3:20
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Oh the irony of that sentence…

What’s fueling your brain circus?

Life.

Not sure. Weird dreams. Company in the house.

I’ve been sleeping better since I got my mom settled. The depression and anxiety attacks have lessened. Still a lot more to do there - a constant challenge - but at least it’s not as disruptive as it’s been upon my sleep.

Life though, amirite?

You are right.

Couldn't get to sleep..neck/shoulder pains? At around 2:30a, took a sleep aid. Woke up bright and early at 10am. on a work day...shit!

I knew that was going to happen...but I do feel rested! Yay chemistry

What do you use as a sleeping aid?

Rx: Zolpidem (generic ambien?)

I really only use it on rare occasions. Ambien is a sleepwalk drug. Did I ever tell the story of the police coming to my hotel room when I stayed in MT for my daughter's wedding? I couldn't sleep. I took one, and played some music on my iPhone. It was a little loud, so, blindly, I used the side buttons to turn it down. Later, in a dead sleep, I got a call asking if I was in trouble. I said no. Then even later, again, in a dead sleep, I was awakened by the cops pounding on my door and checking my room. I was half dressed and probably drooling at this point. Certainly unable to talk coherently, and I have little memory of what they asked or what I said.

Apparently, the multi-tap on the side buttons while the iphone is locked defaults to calling emergency services.

I've disabled that on all my devices now, thank you very much.

PS: Go to Settings->Emergency SOS and disable "Call with 5 presses"

That’s a funny story. And I feel ya on ambien. It’s like the Rx rophy.

I just do whiskey, camomile, whiskey, melatonin, and sometimes whiskey. Such are my sleep aids. All otc.

Benadryl x 2 knocks me out.

No Rx for me. Benadryl leaves me dehydrated and feeling poorly afterwards making for a poor sleep aid.

Well, after over a month of anxiety attacks messing with my circadians from my mom’s situation, I got a few nights of sleep since she’s settled in the care center. Still stressing it but it hasn’t been keeping me up. But now it's Cali Roots. Beyond the usual eustress of prepping for a camp out fest, there’s the Covid surge. That coupled with my mom’s ongoing trials has had me up since 4.

Maybe I’ll start dosing melatonin for the next few nights. Already been having regular nitecaps to rebuild my whiskey fortitude (Cali roots prep).

Having a drink to sleep always made me snap wide awake in the middle of the night.

I can relate. I still enjoy my nitecaps tho…

I seldom drink at other times although I had dinner with some friends (including Sylvia - Dan’s widow) at the Beach Chalet last Tuesday and treated myself to a shot of Oban. Otherwise, it’s just been nitecaps for the bulk of the pandemic.
