Filming on Paramount+ drama Star Trek: Picard has been shut down since Monday following a sizable COVID-19 outbreak.
Sources say more than 50 members of the large production tested positive Monday, which was the first day of work after the Christmas break. The Patrick Stewart-led series has one of television’s biggest crews, numbering more than 450 staffers. The infections impacted multiple zones, including cast in zone A.

Production on the series was immediately shut down Monday and has remained dark since. Sources say filming is expected to resume early next week, if not sooner, though details remain in limbo.

The highly contagious Omicron variant of the virus has prompted a number of shows to pause filming this week, with fellow CBS Studios-produced series including NCIS among those that have been impacted. Major events including the Grammy Awards and a number of TV and film red carpets have been canceled, while others like the Sundance Film Festival have gone virtual.
Picard films in Los Angeles, which recorded 26,754 new cases, 2,240 hospitalizations and 27 deaths on Jan. 5. In California, an average of 59,000 cases a day were reported from New Year’s

Picard was formally renewed for a third season in September, with seasons two and three being filmed back to back in a bid to control costs and accommodate production schedules.
Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, John de Lancie, Annie Wersching and Brent Spiner star in Picard, which is produced by Star Trek franchise captain Alex Kurtzman. Akiva Goldsman serves as co-showrunner alongside Terry Matalas.

NEW TRAILER FOR 'PICARD' SEASON 2 REVEALS THE RETURN OF EVEN MORE 'THE NEXT GENERATION' FAVORITES

The full trailer for the second season of Star Trek: Picard reveals Q's past machinations and the return of Picard's confidante, Whoopi Goldberg's Guinan.

The Season 1 finale of Star Trek: Picard reset the board and ended a big chapter for Jean-Luc Picard, but also made it possible for him to continue with Soji and the crew of the La Sirena, including Rios, Raffi, Jurati, Elnor, and Seven of Nine. And by the looks of the new full trailer for Season 2, they've set a course for Q (John de Lancie) as part of their next adventure.
The omnipotent trickster who first scrabbled with Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation's"Encounter at Farpoint" is back and it looks like he's sending Picard and company back to a pivotal moment on Earth in 2024 that will explore "the road not taken."

And you give me grief for crushing on hunchback Yennifer?

But yeah, Alice Krige killed that part. I luv that scene where her disembodied head floats down to be connected to her body as well as the one when she stimulates Data’s skin graft by blowing on it. The two borg women, her and 7 were tng hawt.

I really need to catch up on this series. I've had social media blinders on to avoid spoilers but I'm in so many ST social media groups that it's impossible to stay immune...

S2e1: lotta fan service going on here. We catch up with all the characters from s1. There’s deltan reference. The guests - Guinan & Q - are in play. As well as the big bad Borg. And some backstory of Picard that we didn’t need to know - like why he journeyed to the stars in the first place. Orla is still the romulan not-love interest because Picard wants to be alone. Star Fleet academy still looks nice next to the GGB. The new Stargazer ship looks like an st hot rod.

Meh. Not impressed yet.

E2 was a bit better. Q set up a time change that turned the Federation to the totalitarian Confedertion. Only the Picard crew know what’s up and they have the torso of the Borg queen to help. So they have to go back to 2024 LA.

I’m thinking this has something to do with D00M south.

Best line ‘Q I’m too old for this bullshit’ - Picard

E3 And we’re back in LA. Kinda ‘search for Spock’ but 40 years later and LA instead of SF.

The Borg queen torso is creepy as the doc tries to connect and reboot her without being assimilated. 7 & Raffi partner up for fish-out-of-water hijinks. Rios meets the hottest Latinx doc running a free clinic. This is feeling like a long drawn out ep. A death but I’ll put money on it that it’s a Disney death.

10 in the season. Hope it goes somewhere. I’m missing Soji.

E4 Young Guinan. Well alright. Rios in ICE. 7 & Raffi to the rescue. Q loses his snap. Agnes flirting with the Queen. And we’re back in the badlands.

E5: A Gary 7 Easter egg. Now the dastardly Q plot is revealed and it’s about Soong & Soji. I sense some recursive poetic license ahead. This might come together in the end, but we’re only halfway through so I might be way off.

I should’ve watched this before SNW. That show stole Picard’s thunder. I wasn’t a huge fan of TNG when it came out but grew to enjoy it later. I may not have seen it all, just the key eps.

Forgot to mention the punk on the bus from the whales movie in e4. He’s become the ultimate st Easter egg.

E6 Agnes sings? Wth? Soji - I mean Kore - discovers Soong’s secret which we all guessed at. Borg queen takes over.  Why does Taliin speak romulan? Is this really working?

S7 romulan question answered. Mind meld dream sequence tapping Picard’s mommy issues was a bit daft. Guinan is back. Q sommoning. And then their busted again.
