Just to let you know, I'm aboard.
I had my best result (three guesses) on my second day (May 14, 2022).

From that point onward, it's been steadily downhill.

I have a group on Facebook to post scores and keep from annoying the non-wordle crowd.

Your next stop will be quordle and octordle. I'm not going Seceordle. There are also specific games for Star Wars, Taylor Swift, et al. At the moment, I'm not going near those rabbit holes.

It got harder when NYT took over, but I have it down now.

TG Stats (as of 2022.03.16):
44 played

GUESS DISTRIBUTION:
1 - 0
2 - 2
3 - 8
4 - 10
5 - 16
6 - 5

FAIL - 3
CHEATED - 1

I'm thinking of switching my starting word to 5-letter curse words as a twist.

4 - 15
5 - 15
6 - 4

FAIL - 1

Quote:How do you cheat?

I was down to my last guess and I had 3 letters, but I couldn't figure it out, so I went to some Scrabble cheater website where you can punch in your letters and say "what words can I make with these letters" and it gives you all the possibilities.

I don't remember the word, but it was particularly hard/uncommon.

I'm finding it much harder tho when the word is something like: "_ATCH"

I tried:
PATCH
CATCH
BATCH
LATCH

...and then ran out of guesses. It was "WATCH".

I always start out with UNNUN (to cause someone to stop being a nun).  It speaks to me, and is my lucky word.

...

[There's a slight possibility I might be lying.]

DM, come on. It's fun. All your friends are playing. It won't hurt you. First time is free!

I'll move over to the facebook page for further wordle comments (thanks for the invite, Greg!), but will comment here that I've sampled Octordle, and it's ridiculously hard (and time-consuming)!

For Octordle, I use the same two words to start so I get all the vowels and S, T, R out of the way. That helps.

I've adopted a modified version of that, wherein in any given round I assess which of the eight words I know least about and guess a word of unused letters most likely to gain me the most knowledge about it.

It's like the recommended strategy for a streetfight against multiple opponents.  Attack the weakest ones first and take them out of the fight, so you can better focus on the tougher ones.

Of course, I lost a lot of streetfights that way, because I'd attack myself first.

Stacy played her first game and got it in 3. I don't know what that means but she's hooked so far. She loves Mastermind and this seems akin to that plus vocab, right? I'm thinking it's a 'first ones free' sorta deal.

Still not playing. I hate games.
