Sadness.

664: Work and svale

Work has been quite a load because the team I’m replacing exits at the new year. That’s right - I’m replacing a whole team (two people plus interns). On top of that, I’m assisting the publicist (mom of the boss who I had to give an excel lesson to - as if I know excel). And I’m developing a lot of new stuff with the vid guy. Yeah, it’s a lot for the new guy and the next few months will be rough methinks so I’ll be whining a lot here, more so than usual. Pandemic burn out is getting to me.

That's why they pay you the big bucks. (Fingers crossed about the big bucks)

How was the drive? Overall a good trip, or just time better spent at home?

We took 101 - Christina had some anxiety about the weather over the Grapevine, and it is a prettier drive anyway, even if a bit longer. Unfortunately we lost about half an hour to a rockslide cleanup near Gaviota, and later there was some construction making it one lane. Left at 6, home at 3:30. Overall a good trip. Home would have been cheaper though.

Glad you had a safe trip. At least you got out a bit, right? Travel is so edgy now.

665: Work, home, more work.

I realize that the transition at my job is amplifying my stress now. Hopefully things will settle out in jan.

It was taking people ten hours yesterday to traverse Highway 50 from Nevada to CA due to the snow. Highway 80 was completely shut down.

I can’t think of this number without remembering an odd adventure of DM&LB - http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...hp?tid=389 - what a night that was…

This is the final telemeets with the email marketing team that I’m replacing. Our IT, who sits in on two of these will be absent, and the other publicity person will be late to that meeting so it’ll be a lot of me and the boss. I’ve got a crapton of work before me.

Very nice crescent moon this morning, but very cold in the garage. At breakfast I ate my last piece of Xmas chocolate. Going to the Triton Museum today with a friend I haven't seen since Thanksgiving.

Crystal clear skies to go with that Crescent Moon. Very brisk.

667: Drink whiskey & weep.

NYE is a major bash gig for me with RM but in 19-20 I just went downtown foregoing a last minute offer of a miracle ticket to Dead & Co. I went with a local accomplice who was trippin on L and we had a pleasant evening. It was the last time I smoked herb for a year and a third.

Then 20-21 was a bust like this year. RM begged me to come out for Kascade at BGC but no way with the surge. I’ve been feeling badly about it all week - fomo as they say.

Maybe I’ll work to keep my mind distracted. YMAA is officially closed but that has no meaning for me as a remote worker.

Maybe I’ll just mope.

Usually I’d work a show like I’ve done for the past 30+ years except for a rare few but last NYE I just went downtown with a friend and watched the clock tower fireworks. Tonight maybe I’ll drink some top shelf whiskey (actually all I have right now is some middle grade bottles and I’d have to open one, but we can pretend).

I’ll catch up on The Expanse because due to a miscalculation I was shut out of Amazon Prime tonight.

Stuck in a rut much? Same plans tonight.

Maybe I’ll get super motivated and change out of my PJs soon.

…maybe…
