Sheltering in Place
I’m lactose intolerant and diabetic so I’m sure this is not the case.

432: Kung Fu and then a hike. Stacy has been hiking regularly in preparation for our upcoming Yosemite backpacking trip. She’s started carrying her pack, doing inclines. She’s convinced me to join her and we’re bringing Yuki. We might camp out tonight. Depends how it goes with Yuki. I suspect she’s going to hike me into the ground again. My right hip is still healing so I have some trepidation.

She does that. As a matter of fact, I remember a hike several years ago where mrs. DM did just that....

Tell me about it...

She promised me no death hikes. We’ll see.

Yesterday we went to Mount Madonna, the county park near Tara's High School. It's off Hecker Pass and we hadn't been up there much since she graduated 4 years ago. It's dog friendly - leashed - but the campground was full so we only spent the day. We hiked about 4.5 miles, 56 floors, in backpacks but they weren't full. Kicked my butt. Yuki proved to be quite the challenge. For a little 30+ lb dog, he can really pull, and kept challenging my balance as I was adjusting to my pack again, especially on the steep slippery inclines. I was also dealing with my hip injury and having had a hard Kung Fu session. We came home and had raviolis and TV, plus a hot epsom salt bath for me.

433: Still looking to hike, we headed to Carmel for Snively Ridge. It's an off-leash hike once you get past the golf course, pretty much straight up the ridge. Just shy of 7 miles, 42 floors. I bailed on my pack, using the 'walk it off' strategy for my hip, and focusing on Yuki. Stacy took her pack up and did great. I took her pack for some of the steep inclines down. Yuki finally showed some fatigue towards the end, but still had some amazing bursts of energy chasing birds and such. We had to leash him up when passing the horse, goat and cow stable, and he still had astounding pulling power. Came home for more TV and another epsom salt bath.

Twas a good weekend. Nice to get out. I definitely need to train more.

434: Just worked today, some for all 4 of my jobs. I forgot to post here.
435: Today I have to take my mom to an oral surgeon to deal with what remains of a tooth she broke a few weeks ago. Apparently there’s still some root that needs removal. Today and the following two weeks I must head to sval early to deal with my mom’s medical and dental appts.

436: YMAA telemeet first thing, then home. Chipping on some Den pieces that are refreshingly non-martial.

I’m still sore from the weekend hike. And I’ve got a lot of bite scars.

I meant my practice not the show. But I did both. My practice was crappy. Couldn’t get the qi flowing and for some weird reason, everyone wanted to talk to me instead of working out. What’s more, Los Lobos was playing at the Dream Inn and one student was trying to cajole me into joining him on the beach. I bailed, but learned later on fb that an old dear friend.  was there too, someone I had not seen in a few years. So a bummer of a Thursday.

438: TGIF. I just got work today - YMAA, KFM, Den, & UNESCO.

I do know the difference but I reserve the right to conflate the two for humor.

Time to call Master Tu for a Qi tune-up.

You probably need some cupping. Lots of it.

Funny coincidence - about half of the students at the Academy are students at 5 Branches. I was talking to one of them, the one who got me the 3 month gig there, and he was talking about how he needed to up his social media game. I suggested that he needed to start twerking on TikTok, and then advising him to start marketing booty cupping for twerkers.

Yeah, I'll take the whiskey... thanks!

I should've cut practice and gone to that Los Lobos show.
