Turns out Yuki is a tough snow dog, much tougher than me. He leaps on rocks, fords creeks, and loves that powder. I can't even keep up. Plus he's grown burly, at least in the shoulders, and pulls really hard. I have to really lower my center of gravity so he doesn't pull me down on the ice.
We're leaning towards staying Wednesday night and waiting out the storm. That means we'd show up late to Lynch Lair should we go that way because I have a noon telemeeting and need secure internet for that meeting. I will keep you posted.

Thanks.
Now we're thinking of braving the storm and moving on Wed as scheduled. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Mountain weather - you can never tell. But I don't have to tell you about that.

I think Tioga will be closed for the season. I think the northern passes will be closed temporarily.

Yes we’ve given up hope on Tioga. We’ll likely head south because there’s snow predicted on Wednesday and that’s more to the north.

237: I have a 15 min telemeeting for ymaa in the middle of the day, which is awkward. I just can’t escape work right now.
After a rousing game of risk last night (Tara won) I tossed and turned instead of sleeping. I was stressing work and the coming snow storm tomorrow when we’re supposed to leave. I hate snow. Then the dogs freaked out about the wind. Rough night.

Looks like we're sheltering in place...from the storm. 100% chance of snow starting tonight at 3AM and going into the afternoon, when it turns to rain snow. Yeah, no. Not driving through that. So we're staying another day.
We'll head for Lynch Lair after 1PM (I have that YMAA telemeeting) so we won't arrive until after dark. Please leave a light on for us.
The wind is 30 MPH now. It's insane and it's driving the dogs insane.

To be clear, you are coming up on Thursday or after the storm and meeting on Wednesday?
It's a little breezy here at the Lair. Lots of clouds. It is supposed to start raining after 2am tonight.

Well, now the lodge says there will be a planned power outage on Wednesday night from 8 to midnight. Do we really want to stay now? We don't know. We don't have chains and my CRV is not 4-wheel drive. We only have to get through the short road from the lodge to the town and then out to the highway. They've already brought out the plow for the lodge - it's parked right in front of our cabin. The lodge person says that they are usually pretty good about plowing but it's early in the season, so you never know. Might be icy.
Rain starts at 2am then turns to snow at 4am. It changes to snow showers at noon and ends at 5pm. We have the option to do a late check out, which is at 1 (no one is coming in tomorrow). So we'll see how it looks tomorrow.
We may make it for Lynch Lair tomorrow afternoon and be there in the evening. I don't know. I just don't know.
I hate snow.
Now the power outage is rescheduled. It's about a 2 mile stretch to town. The rest should be plowed. So maybe we'll make a break for it tomorrow. Tara and her friend seem bent on that. We're a bit worried - they are in Bri's Prius, which she just acquired (used but it good shape - a 2016) but have little experience with icy roads and black ice.

238: We have snow. It’s supposed to let up around noon and shift to rain. Assuming they clear the roads we may make a break for it. Tara & Bri will likely head out then.
If we leave tomorrow, I can telecommute by phone so I won’t have to wait until 1 to leave. Still waiting on the weather.

The majority of the rain has already passed through Raymond. We'll probably get sprinkles for the rest of the day. No snow in Oakhurst, which flirts with the snow line, so I get to go to the library this morning.
