Is it just me or does it seem like we some sort of dog celebration day every week? I feel like just celebrated dogs a week ago.
Don't get me wrong. Dogs should be celebrated, but how many special days do they need?
Yes, I have posted on #Caturday.

Yuki is moving out of his puppy stage, which is going by too fast. His fur is changing from that downy puppy fur to a more coarse dog fur, starting at his spine and now growing towards his belly. His snout has lengthened and the black mask of fur, which initially covered his whole snout, is lightening and moving more towards his nose and less under his eyes.
He's growing into a funny shapped dog. His head is abnormally big. His body is long, like a weiner dog. His legs are short, like a midget. His paws are still big for his legs. His front legs are shorter so he face plants a lot when running and playing. He has an odd running gate, more like a gallop trot, as if his legs aren't quite timed out correctly. His tail is absurdly long so when he wags it, his whole ass wags. That part is super cute.
He's getting more snuggly, and enjoys resting his bobble-like large head upon me if in reach. He likes head rests and narrow spaces like under the couch or the butcher block.
The two dogs in back are starting to play with him a little more. Joey is a big dopey dog who likes to play fetch and makes a point to pee copiously in Yuki's space (which is less than 5% of the yard) and poop right outside the gates. Yuki will stand up and grab his neck, and Joey will just push him down on his back being a much bigger dog. Joey will also steal any dog toy he finds and bury it. He's a slobbery old dog with several skin tumors and sorely needs a bath. Notchy is a grumpy bitch, always snorting like small snout dogs do. She chases Yuki agressively and Yuki stays out of range, but continues to taunt her. With both dogs, Yuki continues to pester them.
Stacy has started to call Yuki Harry after Harry the dirty dog. Yuki don't care. The name he responds to best is 'treat'.

Yuki has a weird rash under one of his forelegs that he started chewing at and it’s affecting his gait. Now we’re at the vet ER, stuck in the car - the funky Jetta that’s falling apart - waiting to be called in due to covid protocols. It’s been almost an hour. They said it might be up to three. We just got to wait. There are a lot of cars here waiting. Fortunately we’re in a shady spot by a tall redwood and Yuki is just resting now.
But this sux.

First week in the new house, we had to do a similar journey to the closest emergency vet because Maeve had blood leaking from her sphincter. The nearest Vet was in Fresno. There were no Covid protocols to deal with just an overworked vets office on a Sunday. We were there a long time waiting.

Still waiting. The sun has moved so we’re losing our shade.

The vet called it a hot spot. They cleaned it and Yuki will be on topical steroids for a week, plus a cone of shame. He should be ready in about 15 more mins. I’m waiting for him and the bill.

And by 15 mins, they meant 45 mins. I was in the vet parking lot queue for 7 hours total. At least I got a tasty burrito when he finally got admitted after about 4.5 hours. It was muy authentico con cactus.

Yuki is healing quickly. He's adjusted to the cone of shame and has even weaponized it when he plays with the other hounds in our lot.
The weird thing is that we never paid the vet. Stacy dropped Yuki off and got us in the queue but then had to leave for work. I thought she paid but no. They never collected. They called us but we missed it. We tried calling them and emailing them, but never got through. They only have our phone numbers. We never filled out any paperwork between the handoff. I'm sure they'll catch up to us eventually but that's so odd in retrospect.

Shows that they were in the weeds and prioritizing the job over the $, which is as it should be.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I wish that were so. It's more like they were just negligent. It was a struggle to pay, as if it wasn't annoying enough already. We've dealt with them before with our cat and were also unsatisfied with their service.
I'm still traumatized from that 7 hour wait. I've had no patience for anything this week. Stacy gave me a massage yesterday to try to settle me out.
The bill was just under $300. We need to find another dog ER. Our regular vet is okay but not open on Sundays and they could've handled this easily. Finding a good vet is like finding a good dentist or a good mechanic.
Yuki is back to normal. The hot spot is extinguished and in retrospect, we probably could've done it on our own with a cone of shame, but we weren't sure what it was. We have extra powder if it happens again, plus a cone.

When I had a dog, we really liked Dr. Hoban @ Harbor Vet, but that was a long time ago. I'm not sure what their status is. They were going to lose their building so a mental health facility could go in.

Maybe a little far for you, but I can recommend a vet in San Jose, on Blossom Hill across from the old Orchard Supply. They have always been great for us.

Thanks Brothers. Yuki is with Adobe now. We should check out Harbor. Looks like Dr. Hoban is still on staff and that's close. Blossom Hill is too far, but thanks.

Yuki was neutered on Wednesday. Yuki the eunuch.
I went up the coast. First time since the fires. So sad to see the scorched earth.
The SF shelter included the operation however it was at a vet on Mission near Daly City. I had to park 3 blocks away and had to carry him back to the car uphill. Never thought a 30 lb dog would be so heavy. He was pretty freaked out (understandably) and jumped in my lap while I drove through a foggy section, hitting me with his cone of shame.
I pulled out our futon and slept with him to comfort him. He slept on my arm. It totally wrenched my neck the next day.
He was back to his bouncy self yesterday. Tonight he was going into his psycho mode. We took a decent walk, even jogged a little, but it wasn’t enough.
Just now, he got his first taste of rain. Rain dog. So cute.
