My mother has gone in to get a Covid test. She's had a lot of congestion as well as an ongoing earache and fever.

In a, I'm sure, completely unrelated occurrence her caregiver spent the weekend at a casino.

Test results come back today.

Wow.
How is that even possible?  A caregiver with elderly clientele?  Going to Vegas?  At a time like this?

Though I suppose it's consistent with all else that's happening...

I asked my sister if we could get a new caregiver and she said no.

But, hey, the pandemic is over, right?

Now I'm curious. Any DOOMers aside from me get a covid test yet?

My closest friend from Grad School's father-in-law died of covid recently. He was in a retirement home. It was sudden and awful - they could not visit or do anything. He was just gone - just like that - without warning or services.

I haven't gotten one. But there is a mobile service coming through Raymond next week.

I think testing is moot for LCF and I at present.  We have no symptoms, and they aren't doing an antibody test.

I'd like to find out if one or the other of us might have had a stealth bout with it in the last couple of months, but I don't think testing would shed light on that.

That's my understanding of the situation.  Please enlighten if you have another take.

No test yet, may soon.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

my understanding is it depends what test you take, but you should only test if you have symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed covidian.

i wouldn't bother to take it recreationally. it's not fun.

i hear most just get the nasal swab. i got the throat too (thanks kaiser). and all it told me was that both were negativo, nothing about antibodies or previous exposure.

I would do the antibody test if I could get it, but there are questions about the accuracy. I feel like no need to test for virus if I'm not sick. I did have flu or something in early March, so I could have already had it. It felt like flu, but I also had a lot of stomach distress and my digestion was off. Both of those supposedly symptoms. I also had really bad chills, although my fever never went over 101. My lungs were weak for several weeks after.

Recently saw this article which was rather sobering.
