Life in Lynch Lair at Wildcat Station

How do you know I haven't been blinded by the fumes? Or that I kept my proper distance when I spotted it? Or that tQ is the one cleaned it up and now she's blind? So many assumptions you make.

I spent the weekend on my knees making another concrete path around the pergola. Today all my muscles are informing me of what i was for doing this chore.

On the flip side, the two pallets of concrete that I've had sitting in the driveway for the past several months have slowly been solidifying. I feared that eventually I would no longer have two pallets of concrete but two pallets of very heavy bricks.

I also had to make a front step to the Big Shop because the building codes required it. But that building is done and I hope to get final approval for it on Wednesday.

So, our secret house guest has just finished installing our boosted wifi network transmitters. I now have WiFi out in the shop, soon out to the undead shed as well. I can't wait to buy those SMART tools that I can run from iPhone.

Oh, happy Monday!

Bright and early this morning I went to the tap and nothing came out. If you live in the city, you call the water department. When you own your own well, you get to call you.

I checked the tank. It was about a quarter fill. No amount of jiggling the float got the pumps to kick on. I did find tons of acorn seeds in the screw top, so I have that going for me.

Our well works on a two stage system. The well was designed to service three other properties as well as our own. This means the actual well is a couple hundred yards away on another property.

I walked over to the property and found the supplementary tank there was full of water. For some reason the water was not getting from that tank to our tank.

There is only one well service company in the town of Raymond so I called them. The appropriately named Wellco actually installed the well on my property originally. They will be out some today to probably install a new pump down at the supplementary tank. The nice man from Wellco said they are $1200. It could be they just need to throw a switch which would probably be less. But I'm guessing I don't get the cheap option.

Whew. The pump guy has come. It seems PG&E has shut off power to that particular pump. Probably something about getting paid.

When we moved in, I was told that pump was my responsibility but I was never given a bill for the power for that pump. Since the well and pump are surrounded by three other vacant properties, I was assuming the pump bill was being paid by the realtor for three vacant properties. I guess not. I'm now waiting for PG&E to call me back so I can work this out. They mystery is going to be what is the address for that meter and how do I switch ownership of it to me.

We're expecting rain too, but not until Saturday.

What is this rain you speak of?

The foothills are experiencing their earliest spring ever do to lack of snowfall. Bears are coming out of their dens early.

Supposed to get a small chance of rain tomorrow and then again on Saturday.
