It was a serviceable affair. Although it helps that I had it on DVR so I could fast forward through the dreck and the commercials. For instance I didn't listen to the head of the academy awards give his speech.
Parasit winning was the big surprise. I thought for sure Once Upon a time was going to win more.
Brad Pitt had the best joke of the night saying "I've only got 45 seconds, but that's longer than the senate gave John Bolton"
Wil Ferrels and Julia Louis Dreyfus were funny but that's to be expected. Kristen Wig and Maya Rudolph were kind of funny for a change.
I was surprised by Eminem's performance. That came out of left field. I figured half the audience loved it and the other half took a break to go to the bar. Janelle Monae had a fine dance opening but I don't need to see dancing Jokers.
Steve Martin and Chris Rock opened the show as the not hosts. But that's all you really want the host to do is open the show and then they usually disappear. I think only Billy Crystal actually made a show out of his appearances.
I just read online that Parasite's win was a big wake-up call to Hollywood showing that all cinema isn't just about American made films. I guess the author of the article missed the part where Hollywood gave the award to the Korean film which means they might know there are other countries making film out there.
As usual, I wish I had seen more of the films up for awards, but I'll get to them. I think the only one I saw was Toy Story 4 and Rocketman, both of which won awards.
Most of the prognosticators were spot on in their picks with exception of the The Best Picture award.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
