Name them. The first one should be named 'bob'

Not yet. Do tell. That sounds very entertaining.

Friday they picked up the first UNIT. It's only been sitting in front of the house for three months. I was coming home from running errands when I saw them dragging the box onto the flat bed truck using a cable and a winch. The driver did not look happy. I came out to see if he needed anything. That's when he told that the UNIT I packed was super heavy. So, heavy he destroyed one of the wheels he was using to roll the UNIT onto the truck. The rim for the tire was completely bent out of shape.
Bill, the driver, told me he was going to get up early and drive the UNIT to Raymond. But he was going to have to take it very slow because of the weight.
The dogs gave us dirty looks as we left early Saturday to go get our new house. We did a quick stop in Coarsegold to get our keys before heading to the house. Fun Fact: Legbone's father lived in Coarsegold for fifteen years.
Miracle of miracle when we arrived at the house, the UNIT was already sitting in the driveway. The plan was to unpack it that afternoon and Bill would get it on Sunday.
Cindi and I spent some time walking around the house and property, getting our first thorough look at what we are getting into it. There were a lot of furrowed brows about the decisions the Callahan's had made. For instance in the dog run, there was a metal on a wooden platform full of dirt and dead plants. Our real estate agent told us there was some trash still on the property but a guy was going to come over this afternoon to get rid of the rest of it.
We also found a note on the counter informing us they had left two bags of cat food and some cans of cat food so we could feed the Farrell cats (Their spelling). On the purchase agreement documents they had called them the Pharoa cats. On our first visit to the house, the Queen had seen one of the cats in a lean to at the back of the house. So, now we were expected to take care of these cats? Where was that in the purchase agreement?
We spent an hour unpacking the trailer before we decided it was time to have lunch. The closest place to get food was the Raymond General Store. The Queen volunteered to go get it. We both couldn't leave because the Directv guy was coming to hook up our system.
Shortly after the Queen left, Bill the driver and his son showed up. I initially thought it was the Directv guy, but no.
Bill popped over to give me his contact number so I could call him when the UNIT was unloaded and then he could come get it. When he saw that the UNIT was half unloaded already, Bill decided him and his son would pitch in and it unloaded right then. This meant Bill could get back on the road much sooner.
I shuffled the boxes to the end of the UNIT. Bill and his son carried them or dollied them to the garage. By the time the Queen returned from the General Store, the UNIT was mostly unloaded. The Queen helped us get out the last few books and book cases.
The Directv guy showed up. He had a tremendous time trying to get a cel reception so he could write up the order on his phone. He almost left because he couldn't get a signal. But eventually he managed to get it all going. We found one spot in the living room where he could get a signal and I could sign the work order.
The Queen deliriously hung up all her clothes in her walk-in closet. I spent time putting together the Makita Weed Whacker. The tool has set for a week in the garage without me playing with it.
We went to dinner at the Yosemite Grill. This is the closest restaurant to the house, not counting the food counter at the General Store. We took the Queen's car because her gas tank only had fumes in it and she needed to fill it promptly. Granted, we are new to all the myriad roads, we need to take. And the nearest gas station was next to the Yosemite Grill. But that still makes it a fifteen mile drive.
The gas station and restaurant were both on Yosemite Springs Parkway. Yosemite Springs is a golf course housing association community. And I was under the assumption that one of the roads that we took turned into Yosemite Springs Parkway.
Not so much. We were about five miles past the turn heading into the San Joaquin Valley before I realized my error. The Queen was driving like crazy to get us to the station before we ran out of gas. The tank gauge was pegged to E the entire time. And now here we were miles out of our way and not really sure how much further we could go before the car quit.
But we made it. The Queen put more gas in her tank than she has ever put in her tank. We both had sweated through our shirts.
When we came back to the house, we got our introduction to the Pharell or Pharoa cats. The mother and three of her kittens were sitting in the driveway. When we approached, the kittens promptly dove into a culvert that runs underneath the driveway. The mother headed off around the house. Father was over there as well.
Because we are dumb, we set out the cat food. One in the back yard and one near the culvert.
The cat food can brought out three adults. I counted three kittens in the culvert. We have opted to care for them despite the gross imposition. And since they are Pharoa cats, we have named the three adults Anubis, Ishtar, and Ramses.
I have a call into the Madera SPCA to see about getting them spayed.
After a bad night of sleep in the new house, we got up early and drove to Los Angeles. We have some packing to do today and some tomorrow.
On Monday, we load up the dogs and the cats and make our trip to Raymond and start living in our new home.

Right. And like you two would NOT take care of pharaoh cats?!
Did you unpack your live cat trap yet? I’m very curious what else you might catch with on if those.
Great story. DM totally cedes the spotlight to Greg & tQ now.
Eager to hear how the migration of the beasts goes. Best of luck with that. Hope the transit bodes well with your quadrupeds. I’m sure once they mark their territory, they are going love life up there. The clean air and country scents inspire me and I have a tiny insensitive snout.
Can’t wait to see your new crib.

We were ready to leave at 10:30. The feral cats decided they were against the cat carrier. It is now almost noon. The cats are some where loose in the neighborhood.

We've caught one cat. I've the blood to prove it. The other has just vanished. Maybe Fergus has gone to join Skittles?
It is going to be embarrassing in ten minutes when the new owners come for a walk through and we are still here.

Any luck with Fergus?
I still have yet to see Skittle personally. Everyone else has but not me.

5:20. No sign. The Queen is getting ready to depart. I'm debating when I'm going.
Talked to the new owners who showed up for a visit. They aren't moving in for a week so can't get them to feed Fergus when he shows up. It's a bit of a conundrum.

Okay. I've opted to spend the night in Montecito Heights in the hope I can find Fergus in the morning. The Queen had departed with mama cat for Wild Cat Station.
There is no furniture here. I've made a bed from the dogs blankets and I will be sleeping in the kitchen. The only lights left in the house that I can read by are in the kitchen. I do have a pillow. For dinner I'm having Pizza Rut. The dogs are enjoying some bones that were still in the freezer.
Good times

YAY!
But the cat came back the very next day,
The cat came back, we thought he was a goner
But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away.
Away, away, yea, yea, yea

You were worried about feeding a *feral* cat? One of nature’s perfect killers?
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Now you've got me pondering. Do we ever see Freddy Krueger eat? Or Michael Meyers? Jason Voorhees? What about Godzilla (sure, buses and trains for roughage, but what about caloric intake?)?
Food for thought...

Is now 12:48am. Turns out floors are not very comfortable places to sleep. My plan is to hang out for a bit, then catch the cat and finally head up to Raymond.

I've had him twice and both times he fought going into the carrier and escaped. The carrier is way too small. We had to buy it when we couldn't get both into the big carrier. We have other carriers but put them into the moving units when we made the decision to try and put them into the single big carrier.
I also have a coyote haunting the yard. I think he smells the kibble that was spilled in the front yard. Fergus had vanished because of me and the coyote. It's 3:21. I'll text DM at 4:20 to see what he is up to. I'm sure the neighbors are thrilled to see a man in a hoody prowling around their front yards.

Two strikes but three’s a charm.
The best investment I ever made for cat wrangling was a pair of AFS black fencing gauntlets. They’re so good that I renamed them cat-proof gloves. That’s of little use to you now, I’m afraid. Still hoping for the best for Fergus.
