The Move to Awahnee

Limbo. Can't go forward with buying the new house. No one has bought the old house. Almost all our possessions are in a box in the street. It's starting to make me a bit cranky.

And by a bit cranky, I'm mad at everything at the moment.

Today, Friday will be our fourth visit by buyers in four days. The best groups were on Tuesday. One said he could only be there at 6:30. Not 6:25. Not 6:35. 6:30. He then showed up at 7

Since no one has given us an offer, we are holding another open house on Saturday. Another chance for the Queen and I to wander aimlessly through the neighborhood for two hours. Like I said, Limbo.

Although, Realtor Paul is still optimistic about big gains when we sell the house. He is confused that no one has made an offer by this point. Although, one couple has been by 3 times. Another will be making their second visit on Saturday. One group stayed on the house for an hour during last weekend's open house.

We got an offer over night for the list price of the house. Yay! Sort of.

The game was to get a bunch of offers and spark a bidding war, where we would be the winners. I guess that is every home sellers hope. At least someone wants to buy our home. Just not for the millions we had anticipated.

Still early yet.

This also means I'm going to have a hard time concentrating for the rest of the day.

Nice.
Let it be the start of the deluge.   The house looks great.

Three more potential buyers schedule private appts. to see the house tonight. I, who have always been the more OCD of the two of us about order and cleanliness, am sick to death of cleaning this place. The floors may look great for the buyers, but they need dusting and wiping every goddamned day. Windows need to have the dog snot and spittle wiped off. Can’t just conveniently leave my stuff on a counter or on the floor for a few days... And then there’s the extra long walks with the dogs, who are just as sick of getting kicked out of the house as we are... Sigh. I know it’s just part of the process. Wish I could fast forward to June, though!

What she means to say is I wallow in filth.

Basically, I'm spending my day refreshing my mail app to see if I have any new messages from the realtor.

Thanks for having my back.

The excitement of Monday gave way to the reality of Tuesday. The second offer never came in. They got cold feet. The buyers with the second offer had been outbid on 3 houses already. They didn't want to go for four. Paul, our realtor, told them to come back with a big enough offer to grab out attention and get us to sell. They seemed to like the idea. High numbers were bandied about. In the end, they walked away.

As for bid number one, the bid for our asking price, we aren't going to accept it at this time. Crazy, I know. It seemed counter intuitive to me. We set a price. They met it. And we said no. But that's the real estate game. Paul told us the buyer understood that and just wanted to be in the game. And we did get two very interested parties in again last night. People really seem to like the garage. Our potter wants to use it as a shop. Our musician wants to use it as rehearsal space.

No lookers on the schedule yet. The Queen would like to take a day off from cleaning the house.

Yeah, and...?
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Okay. We had three offers come in. One at asking price. One a smidge above asking price. The third is a really good offer. We are countering the offers now. Basically we are telling all the buyers we have multiple offers.

There might a fourth offer coming in today. It was supposed to come in last night.

The hiccup is that escrow would close by May 15th and I don't think we can get into a new house until June 1.

Please stand by for further updates.

It's been almost two hours since the Queen and I signed a bunch of electronic documents. Why hasn't he called? WHY HASN'T PAUL CALLED!?!?!?!?

We have another potential buyer coming over tomorrow to look at the house.
