I propose a new thread for streaming video. Netflix and Amazon Prime are offering great original, rerun and retro series that deserve their own space.
My first entry would be Netflix's "The Get Down". It's a story of 6 poor, Bronx youths in the 70's chasing the dream of glory or escape via success in crime, art or conformism. It touches on the birth of DJ culture, graffiti as art, and disco as music. Very few white cast members and lots of 70's stock footage. Fun stuff.
It has elements of Shaw Bros, although it confuses Chinese/Japanese martial culture, like most of 70's America (Kung Fu = Ninja).
