Titus Andronicus @ The Fillmore 05/24
#1
OK, only caught the last 30 minutes of the set.

This show coincided with Bruce Lee night at ATT Park. I bailed on DM and CF to catch Muni and bus to the venue.

I was wearing my Buster Posey orange jersey, carrying a lunch bag, a stereo faceplate and Kung Fu medal. The Fillmore security guys were amused.

Inside I was expecting wall-to-wall crowds with the popularity of The Monitor.

It was about 1/4 filled. I was shocked. I had driven into S.F. to buy my ticket because the Ticketmaster fee was outrageous. I was afraid it would sell out.

I love these guys. They have the intensity of The Clash, the lyrics of  Leonard Cohen and the punkness of The Manchester Orchestra.

Anyway - no encore, no poster but I'm glad I went.

You should've told them I gave you that medal as the old timers there know me and I was there the night before.

No poster. That sux. Was it worth missing 5 runs in 2 plays?

Just twist the knife, DM.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Twist the Knife is one of my all-time favorite songs.

I'm almost always humming it, except when DM is around, who ought not be encouraged.  Darin's version is nice, but I've always preferred Sinatra's take -- maybe because of the authenticity his mob association adds to the visceral rearrangements.

P.S. While I've been typing this, a WWII B19 bomber has been circling overhead.  Should I be worried?
I'm nobody's pony.
