Django Unchained
#1
After seeing this movie, it was easy to see why Christoph Waltz won the Oscar. He had lot of good actor bits to do. Like most Tarantino films, it is full of monologues about stuff and it gets a bit repetitive after awhile. Plus, some of them could have been a lot shorter. And at a running length of two hours and forty minutes some trimming was in order. But Tarantino is an auteur so keep your hands off.

The story is pretty basic. Django, played by Jamie Foxx, helps bounty hunter Waltz who in turn helps Foxx find his wife. There are lots of gun battles and horses and campfire scenes. As usual, Tarantino drags in actors he likes to fill out his cast. Sam Jackson has a role almost as showy as Waltz. If you like to see bodies explode in showers of blood when hit by bullets, this is the film for you. Even a horse is subjected to this treatment.

I'm going to give this film a meh.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

I really liked it until the DiCaprio part. It's like the movie hit a wall and stopped.

I really enjoyed it. So did my wife. It was engrossing all the way through. Foxx, Waltz, Jackson and DiCaprio were all at the top of their game. I was hoping for a little more from Kerry as I like her in Scandal. The mask-eyehole scene with Hill was hysterical. And I got to hand it to QT; he can still choreograph ultravi in a singularly stylistic way that is his cinematic signature.

Coulda used a sword fight tho.
