Killing Bono
#1
It's based on the book of the same name, which is why I read the book. Basically you start a band at the same school where Bono starts a band. You are even friends with Bono. Your brother was invited to be in U2 but you convinced him to be in your band. You get to watch your life unfold in comparison to U2. Depression ensues.

The book was pretty medium, although well written. It did a nice job of charting the early years of U2 and Neil McCormacks' various failure endevours.

The movie follows the course of the book for the first half, but then decides it needed more drama so you get plots lines with Irish Mobsters and Gay London Landlords and it gets all kinds of wonky. Eventually Neil becomes this crazed potential assassin figure. All told it was pretty ludicrous and dreadful.

But the funniest thing about the film was that they couldn't use any of the songs Neil wrote while in those various bands. They were all under license to record companies and the record companies didn't want to give them up without a payday. Oddly, there are U2 songs in the film. So, the film makers had to make faux Neil songs for the film.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
