I still remember the piece that 60 Minutes did on him. His business manager claimed that in a hundred years no one would know Picasso, while Kincade would be considered the greatest artist of all time.
Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical. And I have to admit, I wanted him to fail.
I don't know what to say exactly. I know he'd had a rough time of it in the past several years, with lawsuits and bankruptcy, which makes one wonder about the "natural causes." I suppose we all live in our own worlds with our own private delusions, which is part of what life is all about. Sometimes we die with those delusions. Sometimes we come to an awareness of where we really stand.
Maybe I'll pay tribute tonight by renting a fog machine and turning it on in the front yard, then leaving my lights on all night.
