A computer game designer executes his evil plan to take over the world...from beyond the grave!
Pretty engaging story. There is a chase scene near the end that reads like a Hollywood blockbuster. There was a Shia Le Boeuf movie that came out last year called "Eagle Eye" that has a lot of the same themes, but I think this book didn't "jump the shark" like that movie did.
The book is a setup for the sequel "Freedom", luckily, that's already been published, so I don't have to wait to see what happens next.

The Santa Cruz Public Library has been lax to get the sequel, Freedom, but when I was doing laundry here in Soquel, an old lady had it on the folding table. I asked her if that was the sequel and she said she thought it was the latest Oprah Winfrey book club book (ha!). She got if from the local Porter Memorial Library in Soquel. She said she was going to return it and I could check it out, so I walked over there between wash loads.
The PML is not part of the SCPL system. It's its own little one room library with card catalogs, no computers, no wi fi, etc. I had to sign up for a card which involved writing my name down on a clipboard, then copying the card number next to my name. I checked the book out which involved rubber stamping the due date on an index card and putting that into the little pocket in the book, then writing my name/card number on the other card and filing it. I used to work in a library back in elementary school/Jr High and that brought back memories!
Anyway, I didn't start the book until last Sat. and I finished it in about 5 days which means it's a book that kept my interest (see my post on Ayn Rand...I'm going on about 3 months for The Fountainhead). This book picks up very close to where the first ended. It took me about 40 pages to remember all the characters and what happened in the first book, but this was another action-packed story. More World of Warcraft meets augmented reality. This one takes on society, big corporations, and the new world order.
Interesting read. Recommended, but read them in order and not too far apart...

Read the first one, enjoyed it, but found it a little preachy, elected not to continue. i may yet change my mind. Cool about he old-school library.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Yeah, I think the second book is a little more preachy than the first, but I still enjoyed it...
