Stro
Si, buena!

No, they want you to buy a trophy at the end.

But double digits is cool.

I am in this weird social media swirl where I mention a festival in a post or a tweet. The festival then likes and retweets my tweet. If I want, I go and like their retweet. It's exhausting. But it's just not a lot of people outside the circle of submitted film and film festival respond. I guess it's not a circle if it's just two points......

You gonna buy the trophy?

Maybe. I need something. If I had gotten into Portland, I was going to buy their rather cool T-Shirt.

You're going to need that trophy to put on a bookshelf behind you for future promotional photos.

KB makes an excellent point.

I never got you a participation trophy for TCEC? I feel bad now.

Oooooh yes. That was a nice one.

I feel good now.

You know, I never grabbed a trophy for myself. Not a one. I got a few medals and a crap ton of shirts.

I got plenty of medals.

I'm now playing the upload game wherein I try and upload an 8gb movie file to a Film Festival. Part of the fun is the constantly disconnecting Satellite Internet we have here at the Lair. I was very excited when the trailer finally uploaded this morning. But the internet just connected when I was 7% done with uploading the main movie file.

Good times!

The closest I got to uploading the entire film to LA Lives site was 96%. That happened at about 9pm last night. I tried to upload twice more over night. I make detour to the computer after the late night toilet run. The film still hangs during upload.

Fortunately, the site that is hosting the festival said I can just send then dropbox links to the films. I was able to put the film on Dropbox earlier during a time of robust internet.

Maybe I will turn the computer off today?

Starting the day with happy emails. Stro is now a finalist for the Director's Cut International Film Festival in Vancouver. It's one of those young and sketchy festivals but at least I now have two laurels I can post that say finalist. I'll hold off on remaking the poster for a bit.

But the letter from Warsaw is better. I've been bummed seeing these Q&A's with the director coming from the festival. They've been done on Zoom and playing on Facebook. I kept thinking i could do that. Why haven't they asked me to do that? Today they asked me to do a Q&A for the festival. It's at 5:28 Warsaw time on Sunday, which I'm sure is a prime spot. That will be 8:28am Cali time.

In case you need some Laurel affirmation. I know I do.

When the Gods want to punish you they grant your wishes.

After I stopped dancing around from the Warsaw invitation, I realized I currently don't have the bandwidth to have a video meeting. Viasat has said we've hit our limit for the month and they are throttling our data usage until the 20th. Our speeds were pretty bad before, but throttling makes them untenable. For instance it took me about ten minutes to email a 8mb file yesterday.

I'm currently looking for solutions. I have reached out to the Yeti's brother in the hopes he will take pity on me and allow me to use his space. Fingers crossed. I might have to drive to my sister's place in San Jose.

Problem solved for the moment. I'm heading over to Bosco's place in Manteca on Sunday to do the interview. I just have to leave here at 5am to be at his place by 7 for the test and the interview at 8:30.

The interview was almost set for tomorrow. But Warsaw found out they couldn't do it at that time. It is heartening to know that they had enough people in the theaters to do a Q&A at two different times. Back to being excited.

I get to my mom and she goes through her ritual of reading her notes of things she wants to talk to me about; the key one here is that she got a call from an old friend Louise Webb yesterday because she saw me on TV. My mom asks what that was about.

I say "Well ma, I was on a TV show for 2 seasons, remember?"

"Yes, and this was the movie with Greg?"

"Wait..what?"

As best as I can glean, Louise saw some STRO promo on TV. She's based in Saratoga still but has not been in contact with my mom for some time. And she knows Greg's mom. They were in some sort of writers' circle together or something like that. I remember that was one of those six degrees things long before we were all assimilated by the interwebz. I'm not in contact with her at all. I don't think she's on any of my social media. Her daughter, who is my age (we hung out a lot as teens) is now a grandmother. I don't know what she saw. All my mom could say was that it was on TV and it was a movie that Greg and I were in.

There's no way she saw that knicker porn flick we were in so it had to be STRO.
