Realized or just statistically more likely?

My mother filed an abuse complaint against her live in caregiver.

My mother also wants to know why same caregiver hasn't come to visit her in the hospital.

Oh man. That's harsh.

Sorry for what you're going through, Greg. I know what a bitch it can be to find good caretakers and after that filing, you're probably going to be on that quest again.

It's even better. The family is getting together via phone with my mother and palliative care team this afternoon. They are going to talk about Hospice care which will freak my mother out. It is already hurting Roberta's brain. But according to Nurse Stephanie, it will just mean a heightened level of in home care for my mother. That sounds like a good thing.

Hospice can put you in a better insurgence coverage bracket. Maybe come at it from the money angle?

If only.....My mother wants to live forever.

The meeting with the palliative care went about as poorly as expected. They kept giving her a lot of scenarios asking what they should do in each scenario, basically asking when could they stop prolonging her life. They asked how long they should do CPR especially with all the rib breaking. They asked how long they should keep letting machines breathe for her once intubated. She didn't like any of these scenarios. She told the palliative care team to keep working on her.

She moves to rehab today.

Both my parents signed off on DNRs early on.

My mom will occasional ask what is there left for her to live for. She’ll say she’s ready to die.

I've already had a long and intense conversation with my mother. If ever there was a time to drink, it is now.

Although, now that they have replaced the dishwasher in the kitchen, for the first time in fifteen years I can open the silverware drawer. The handle on the old dishwasher blocked the silverware drawer.

I say that almost every time I go to my mom's now, but so far I have been able to ignore the urge...

Stacy hired a window washer for my mom’s house. A lot of the upstairs is now empty except for two rooms, my childhood bedroom which is packed with stuff and a spare room which is filled with boxes from my office of 20 years. My bedroom is still painted dark blue and has a reinforced door - it’s a lock room but stores little of value now except a few antique weapons. There are several whiskey bottle on the bureau, plus some antlers and skulls. The window washer was like ‘who lives in that room?!’

Anyway, yeah. I have lots of whiskey at my mom’s house. And I’m constantly refreshing them.
