Unusual Covers
3 thoughts:

1) Mickey is a perfectly appropriate person to cover that song
2) As a Monte Sereno/Los Gatos kid, those home movie clips are possible from places we've all been
3) "from the Dolenz sings R.E.M." EP - WTF!!

I’ve always had great respect for Mickey because of Going Down, which is my fav Monkees tune. Primordial rap.

Meanwhile here’s the Staple Singers covering Slippery People

I like the Blue Man Group with Venus Hum version better, but man, John Frusciante has some range…

Only partly a cover - it's built around a snippet of Marley's "So Jah Say" - and it has a similar relation to that song as "Roots, Rock, Reggae" has to "Rainbow Country"

Alas. I shoulda searched that one first but I was out late last night and am nursing a slight hangover.

Ok, honestly, I wasn’t out that late. I was home by 11ish. And I didn’t drink or smoke or drop. I’m just old now and I get sore easily.

You may remember Suggs as the front man of Madness.

Tracy Chapman's Fast Car by country artist Luke Combs. Chapman just won a CMA for songwriting for the song, the first black woman to ever do so. Oddly, Combs does not change the gender of the narrator of the song, still refers to himself in the song as a 'checkout girl'
