For awhile, we've been mostly concerned about Dani's cancer. The tumor has returned on her back and brought several friends with it. Dani had lost a step, probably several. She had us the most worried. This setback with Maeve reminded us she's no spring chicken either. Despite the fact she's been very playful recently.

Strength Brother...
Coincidentally Patrick's (from TC) dog Milo is going in for surgery today. Tumor removal.
Sending positive thoughts to my fellow dog dads today...

And then there was only one. Dani was euthanized at 2pm here at the house by Dr. Gary.
She had a miserable night. Didn't walk for the last 24 hours or so. Wanted desperately to go outside to do her business like the well trained dog she was but couldn't. One of her tumors basically engulfed her left hindquarter. The one on her right hindquarter was quickly catching up. She had other tumors all over her body.
She rallied a little this morning. We helped her get to her feet and she walked outside to sit in the sun after a good long pee. She managed to get herself back into the mudroom. So, she was still trying to get around but it must have hurt like hell.
We kissed her and petted her and declared she was the best dog, because that's the truth. And then she was gone.
Sad day at Lynch Lair.

Thank you all.
One of the Queen's FB friends is going to pay the adoption fees for three dogs from his local shelter in Dani's memory.

Slightly OT
Just talked to my neighbor in our back lot. He had to put his Frenchie Notchy down last Wednesday. Notchy was an old black dog with a notch on her ear. She’d been going down to cancer and had a large tumor on her mouth. Sweet dog. She has very territorial about their veranda and would chase Yuki off it but she had a linear attack - basically a frontal charge - and Yuki’s best skill is serpentining and sidestepping, so invariably Notch would charge and Yuki would evade.
I feel bad for her owner, Luigi. He’s a bachelor around our age, lives alone with now just one remaining dog that is also very old, in the ramshackle house at the back of the lot. He works maintenance at the Boardwalk. He’s a very pleasant fellow but he’s had both dogs since they were pups.
Goodnight Notchy.

Maeve has a lot of fur which can impact her pooping. Occasionally bits get stuck in her fur which fall off around the house. Good times. For instance, she just left a lump in my office about the size of a potato. It was quite fragrant.
The question is was it wise of me to photograph it and send the picture to the Queen?
