My Family
The other difference between you and me, Greg, is that you have Roberta.  I'm an only child.

And I'm a helluva lot sexier than you.

I would've found dealing with my mother a little easier as an only child since my brother was more hindrance than help.

If you like, I know where you can live in Saratoga for the foreseeable future.

My mother has finally made it back to the house in Saratoga. It's almost like she's been freed from 3 months incarceration from a minimum security prison. My Jenelle made the journey south with her and has spent the weekend.

According to my sister Roberta, she has regressed from her 3 month stay in Marysville, WA. My mother spent about 8 hours just sitting at the kitchen table. She's having trouble standing up from chairs. But she can get around with her walker. Roberta plans to get some wheelchairs and install ramps around the house.

We do have a caregiver coming in that will stay with her around the clock, 5 days a week. She is on a trial basis until my mother determines that she is stealing from her.

Do you have a good contractor for ramp construction? I will probably need one very soon.

I do not. But I will let you know what Roberta finds out.

I find it amusing that DM talks about his parents under 'Questions' and I talk about mine under 'Issues'

Well, my mother finally picked a fight with one of her care givers. The care giver in question's daughter was over and wanted to take a shower. (Which brings up a whole new series of questions about the mentality of the care giver. You don't bring your family to work) The Care giver's mistake was to ask my mother after the daughter was already in the shower. Sure. Why not. But my mother said no. So, ugliness. Now, my mother thinks the daughter is spending the night and they both are plotting to murder my mother in bed.

Look, my mother is a bomb in search of a match and everything must be done to placate her to avoid the ugliness. Of course dealing with her is like playing the game Operation after twenty espressos. The buzzer is going to go off.

That is amusing, but certainly understandable given the circumstances.

Do you get your caregivers thru a service?  That's what we do.  It's still sorting out, but seems to be working.  There's such a range in providers.  We went with a higher end one mostly because of my mom's hearing.  They have less pronounced accents.

do I post this in music? Do I start a new thread for my sister?

Oddly, it was brought to my attention yesterday that my sister Roberta and Robert Smith of the Cure were born on the same day.

They are. They both turned 60 over the weekend.

And back to my mom.

My mother has accused the person who comes during the week of stealing. This unfortunately means this woman has to go. Not that she has actually stolen anything, but that my mother has decided she is untrustworthy and is only going to make this person's life unbearable. You can reason with my mother so the only option really is to switch. And no matter how much we warn the caregivers, I don't think they fully understand the madness that suffuses that house.

It's tough to find good caregivers.  Tougher still with your mom, I imagine.
