Stacy cut the cord on our pbs subscription so I binged the rest of Grantchester. I was pleased that I called the serial murderer in the season story arc in e4. The season finale wrapped up all the conflicts in a pretty bow and all is well again for next season.
Still an enjoyable show but this season felt anachronistic - too many modern comments like “too soon?”. I did like the exclamation “Christ on a bike” and feel I should adopt that.

Isn't it Christ on a crutch?

Pretty sure they say bike. Maybe it’s a local thing?

Stupid brits. I've heard C on a C more than I've heard C on a B.

Maybe both are correct. He started out on a bike, took a spill, ended up on crutches.

Logic!
C on a C has better alliteration.

Crutch kinda makes more sense I guess. A cross is a kinda crutch, right?
I never understood bike, which is why I like that better. I'm pretty sure they say 'bike' but I should listen again because maybe it's a misheard lyric with those brit accents, and I'm not going to do that. I'm sticking with bike.

I believe it's "Christ on a cracker", though I prefer baby cheeses.

Just heard 'Christ on a cracker' on a podcast and I don't know what to believe anymore.

Magpie Murders
E1: A mystery writer dies leaving his final manuscript missing the final chapter. But the manuscript is an allusion and has clues to his mysterious demise. The story plays out in two main arcs: the manuscript (aka Magpie Murders) and the publisher and author. It’s a tad confusing because it’s the same actors play dual roles, but I do enjoy stories about writers and publishers, despite how self centered they are.
It begins at the Frankfurt book fest. That looks so fun.
Also, the Freudian psychologist from Vienna Blood has a major role. It’s an enjoyable euro murder mystery so far.
Miss Scarlet and the Duke s2 (for s1, start here http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...8#pid44488)
More of the same. Scarlet remains charming with such a dazzling smile. More women’s rights and female empowerment when there was none. The duke has inherited the commissioner’s son as a new bumbling detective. I’m sure he’ll show some talent eventually. The new chief is also from Glasgow and he and the duke pronounce slainte completely differently than I imagined it should be said. I’ll keep watching because it’s sweet and I like the Jamaican street informer dude.

When my Dad worked at Verbatim back in the day his boss loved the Frankfurt Book Fair. He made it a point to go every year.

Coincidentally, Frankfurt just started.
From one of my industry newsletters this morning...
Quote:Willkommen in Frankfurt
The 2022 Frankfurt Book Fair has officially begun! We're on the ground at the fair with the scoop on the geopolitical factors at play this year, an initial flurry of seven-figure book deals, and a buzzy new memoir from Al Pacino that's getting lots of international offers. Back on this side of the Atlantic, Rick Riordan will return to the world of Percy Jackson in fall 2023, announcing the first new book in the series in nearly a decade. We've named our 2022 Star Watch honorees, with an announcement of our five finalists to follow next week. The New Republic dug into the growing alliance between right-wing Christians and conservative Muslims to ban LGBTQ books in schools. And Carman Callil, founder of U.K.'s trailblazing feminist publishing house Virago, has died at 84.
