After Revolution Road, then the gymnastics tournament, then the RM Anchor Tour, then Coraline, then the Victory Opening, then swim lessons, I found myself standing in the rain behind the old mint in S.F. trying to convince a door man that I was a friend of RZAs. I only have his email, not his cell. Eventually, they did let me in and I wound up hanging about. RZA was fun, but he didn't go on until 11:30. I couldn't convince anyone that I deserved backstage access, so I hung out in the smoking section, which opened up to the alley, hoping to catch him as he entered. Made some friends there who rolled up a receipt for a spliff - now that's hip hop old skool. When RZA came out of the car, he saw me, he said "personal friend - escort him back" to security, at which point I made it to the poseur section. Then two of the band members (I didn't realize they were in the band because it was the first time I saw RZA solo) came and got me "RZA wants you in back". So we wound up hanging out just before he was going on, drinking shots of Patron and talking about movies and shit, until he had to go on. I got to escort him to stage, but wound up leaving around 1 or so - I didn't stay 'til the end.
I was hella trashed on Monday, but had an excellent kung fu practice, so good that I stayed up past midnight plucking the albatross (which is what I should get back to now).
