Treasure Island Music Festival - Sat
#2
So we were less interested in the first bands in the Sun lineup. We hung out, grabbed some sandwiches and drinks to go and headed over to the car park around 3pm. We arrived just as "Okkervil River" finished their set. We watch "Fleet Foxes" on the little stage. They are still having sound problems and don't start right away. Finally they stop talking and sound-checking and start bantering with the audience. Then they do some three-part harmony and build into a folk-rock-ish set. We sit through it unimpressed. Back to the main stage for "Spiritualized". These guys had a pretty good sound, great backup singers, nice guitars. They had good rock-star hair and the wind only helped that look...

After Spiritualized, it was "The Dodos" on the small stage. We went over there only to have an "ex" siting again. We laid low and ate our sandwiches. To avoid bumping in to the "ex" we went to the far right side of the main stage. This was a good move because everybody to our left made a great wind block and it was actually warm. The next band was "Vampire Weekend". They were musical guests on Saturday Night Live last season. I remember watching a few minutes, then fast-forwarding. They seemed a little boring/pretentious on TV. I also thought their name was stupid. So they come out: four young guys, and put on a great show. Really fun, musically interesting, great sound - the bass, the drums, the guitar, everything. They had some clever harmonies...in general I'd say these guys are something to look for despite the band name...

After that, I think we were burnt out on the festival and decided to take off, so we missed "Dr. Dog", "Tegan and Sara", "The Kills" and "The Raconteurs" so I can't offer any review on those.

Let me describe the poster...
