Yup. That's the place. There's a Daiso next to Tokyo Central (the store formally known as Marukai). Marukai is a Japanese franchise in the US that just rebranded. The word 'marukai' means something like 'market center' so I get the shift - it's much easier. Lots of interesting Japanese imports. One of the best places for instant noodles (that's not a Chinese market) and a fascinating booze selection.
The Merlion (that statue) is the national mascot of Singapore. The Singa in Singapore is related to the Singha in Singha beer; it's a mythical lion. I kinda like that statue but its probably due to fond associations with my stay in Singapore. There are Merlions everywhere there, right next to the 'No spitting or durians" signs.

I was going to ask if 'peel an apple' was a euphemism but instead I'll just wish you luck with that procedure. Who here has had a colonoscopy?
