Googtrans is weak for Mandarin to English. Here are some better translators:

There's another I use that's on my workmac, but not on my PC here.
Also note, you can grab text using your iPhone. The camera function will select Chinese text just like it does with English text. Copy that and drop it into an online translator.
I'm told the WeChat translator is good but my WeChat is still on lockdown.
Okay. I started using a program called TurboScribe. It's part of the Google family of products. It doesn't do a great job, but it does transcribe and then translate and then output a time coded .SRT file. I can use the .SRT file to make translated subtitles in my film editing program.
Still not great, but it does get me closer.
