Discovery: Hermanos Gutierrez
#2
Hermanos Gutierrez @ Henry Miller Library 10/1/23

This was an afternoon show, starting at 3pm, so we came down to Big Sur for lunch at Napenthe. Traffic in the entire area was a bit impacted because of Rennsport, so we kept passing clumps of Porsche of various models...

Napenthe was characteristically slow, but we got done in time to park along the road next to HML. (We probably could have just walked from Napenthe). It was GA, but there were still seats in the front row, far right, so we took those, put down our coats and walked around. HML hasn't changed much since I was last there (~10 years ago). More decrepit. There is only one bathroom now, in the bookstore, and the line was very long. The bookstore clerk said in his country, people just pee outside and people might want to try that.

Finally HG came out. They took their seats, introduced themselves and jumped into some great music. They took turns introducing the next song, and telling little stories between songs. It turns out that the HML gigs were the last ones on their tour. It was a little cool outside, but it was great music to listen to out under the redwoods.

Happy to have been able to catch them live...

HML is a bit janky and no that I've seen a show, I probably wouldn't go back unless it was a really rare treat.
