I imagine deer hoofs (hooves) are okay for them to eat. It’s probably just collagen. Might even be good for them. It seems like a natural part of their diet.
On a largely irrelevant sidenote, I remember seeing on nature shows how calves, colts, or fawns are born, how the hooves are encased in a membranous sac that protects the mother.
