Yes, the savings eating away... I feel ya.
It's the most macabre hourglass ever. My mom has some savings, which will get us a years worth at this facility. After that, we'll tap into her stocks. That's a few more years, unless the market crashes. She did well in 2021, so much so that she paid a crapton in taxes. Then there's the house. Gonna have to sell it someday. Cleaning it will be a beyotch, not as bad as Lynch Manor, but we've had this house for 50 years now and it's packed tight with stuff, including a ton of mine.
The transfer went ok. MYHC gave us the boot pretty damn quick. Wasn't happy with how that went, but I didn't linger. I hope I never have to see that place again. Ever.
My mom liked the new place. She was warmly welcomed by staff and started chatting with some of the other residents right away. She liked that there was a lot of flowers and it's well kept. Things are falling into place there. I like the manager and staff. They're surely putting on a good face, but the care to patient ratio is great - 5 patients, 4 staff at dinner. My mom got a bit flustered and started nitpicking on me, which I cannot abide by right now, but that's my own issue really.
I'll go back tomorrow. Still a lot to put in place.
