A couple of friends, Carol and Bob, were in Eugene recently. They asked us what there was to see there. Even though we both had lived there, and it's where we met, we couldn't come up with anything. They still managed to see some interesting stuff we'd never known about (such as the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History).
Then they traveled onward, to elsewhere.
Yesterday I texted them, letting them know about the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene this weekend, and that if they were at all into track and field, that would have been something to see. There was a long pause. Then Carol texted me back: "That explains the $350 a night hotel rooms." That's what ultimately drove them out and onward.
Alas, such timing.

I'm nobody's pony.
