i was reading a bedtime story to my kid and the cat came in with that peculiar meow, sort of a muffled mrr-ow sound, which is cat for 'look what i have'. it was a tiny dark snake, maybe four inches long, more like a long worm with scales. it was tossed into the yard unceremoniously.
