Well, that was a little whiff of hell. Still sniffling from all of that brimstone.
We got in my car to head to the vax center and got caught in a hailstorm. A major hailstorm. Like a visibility 20 feet on the highway hailstorm. Hail? srsly?
We got to Levi's only to be told that they were shutting down because of the lightning storm. We were told to wait in our car for 15-20 mins. I repositioned my car into an ADA space which was much closer to the gate. Lightning? srsly?
The storm broke and we got in line. It was huge because everyone had been waiting in our cars. And there was a good half inch of running water across it from the cold rain and hail. As we approached, security re-routed the barriers to send us down and back a long empty waiting line row. Couldn't have done that after we went through, could he?
We got through security and up to the check-in, only to be told we were in the wrong vax center. srsly?
Who the fuck puts two major vax centers right across the street from each other?
Sure, sure, I should've read the email more carefully, but once we were in the vax zone, all the signage shunted us to Levi's. I dropped her off at curbside and parked again in ADA. There were piles of ice right next to all of the ADA parking spots.
My mom's vax center was right across the street at the convention center. We got in and there was a maze of tense barriers, which we cut through along with some other seniors in tow. My years as a movie theater usher made me a master of tense barriers.
Finally we got her 2nd shot.
And we're done. My mom, wife and daughter all have their vaxes (Tara gets her 2nd soon).
I'm still waiting. I'm not even in range yet despite being high risk.
The FOMO is real.
