The author just wanted to confirm some of his reporting. We zoomed while he was on the tarmac flying from Shanghai to Beijing. We had a nice chat, and from the get go he said the article was already written and submitted but he just wanted to be sure. We chatted for half an hour or so.
I was tempted to post this on everybody's favorite thread 'Quotable DM' but I wasn't quoted in this article at all. I was hoping for that, but it's not the Economist's style.
