Cannon Fodder was the most abstract. The animation was akin to Pink Floyd, oppressive and dark with festering green skin tones and every S written in the Nazi double ss. It was kinda steampunk, a culture completely commited to making cannons and shells and launching them across a barren desert towards an unknown enemy. It really didn't have much of a storyline - it was more atmospheric.

No sword fights. Maybe DOOM recommended, if you like anime.
