The Internet Access Problem

When we moved in, we got a satellite to access the web, because it had the fastest internet speed. That was only for download. Upload was still atrocious. Which wasn't a problem until I had to start uploading a 8gb movie file. Well, the satellite has always been spotty. It has good periods when it is super fast and it has bad periods when you just want to punch the computer. And it hangs, which is especially bad when you are uploading a super big file. I spent at least three days trying to get the Stro onto the web.

This becomes a serious issue when tQ started work on her new project for her company. She's building a training/social media portal for the company, where she gives webinars a couple of times a month. It's embarrassing when her internet goes down during the broadcast. When it happened the first time, she immediately went out and bought a Verizon Hotspot to cover in case the satellite went down. The Verizon hot spot kind of works but it is slow. It is just fast enough for her to do the webinars. Just

Well both Verizon and the satellite went down at the same time earlier in the week. Panic. tQ contracted with our phone company, the only phone company in our area to get them to put in the DSL line so she can have a hard wired internet connection. That goes in on Monday.

To top that all off, for the first time since we have had the satellite dish, we hit the throttling threshold. It's that weird practice of unlimited data but only to a certain point. Our internet was bad then got really bad. tQ called to complain and that is when she heard about the throttling. We are still ten days from the rollover. I really wanted an explanation of how we used so much data.

The throttling ends on Tuesday. I'm supposed to do a live Q&A for the Warsaw FF on Sunday. Which is why I'm driving to the Yeti's brother's house in Manteca on Sunday to use his internet. It's only a hundred miles. I have to be there at 6am for the test before the Q&A at 8:28. Good times.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
